He left on pretty awful terms and refuses to apologize. Haven't they said that's what they're waiting for to welcome him back? The apology? No one who was with the Cubs when he left on bad terms is still with the team, so who exactly is he apologizing to?

You helped bring millions of fans back to baseball. Apologize. He also walked out on his team, lied to Congress, and claimed he put Chicago on the map when Michael fucking Jordan was playing basketball

Cool that the Twins are spending money, although Buxton is still probably not a very happy person on that team. AL Central is going to be fun next season. I want us to trade Buxton badly. He can never live up to his potential and would rather he be someone else's headache That would be a crazy return if they actually did trade Buxton. I think he more than makes up for the offensive issues with his defense, and he had that one stretch where he was raking at the plate.

I don't think he needs to be in but I don't have a huge issue with Sosa. Obviously he juiced but we already have juicers in so what's the point?
He was also 22 when he left the Sox - its not like he was a fully ready product juice or not.

He struggled with the Cubs for a few years before he all of a sudden looked like he found the best offseason workout regimen. Bonds/Palmeiro/Clemens and others at least can make the argument that their careers were HoF worthy before they allegedly started using performance enhancing drugs.

He had a meh first year with the Cubs and then starting in his age 24 season he was a consistent 4+ WARish guy. I mean, I'm sure he was juiced to the gills at that point but his overall aging curve was comparable to a lot of guys until he fell off a cliff.
Raffy and Sosa in their early 20s are pretty comparable.
Agree totally that Bonds/Clemens are in a different tier.

Without weighing on the merits of individual players and their specific actions, I'm of the camp that Selig being in renders the generalized complaint a bit toothless. The history is known, it's not like there will come a point when it's not attached to their legacy regardless.

To me I just cant get behind excluding suspected drug cheats when Pudge Rodriguez is in.

Not sure about Sosa being in the Hall, but I don't understand any of the vitriol toward him at all. Dude was responsible for the most exciting period of Chicago baseball to that point (low bar) and generally has been treated terribly by the Cubs.

And to the first point, he started the trend of the team during that decade straight up giving up when things got tough (see: Aramis Ramirez)

How did he give up? I honestly dont remember. He literally left the ballpark of the final game of the season during like the 3rd inning without telling anyone

He probably had the best run as Mets manager that they've had in years

RE: Sammy Sosa. A lot of Cubs fans I know don't want to even talk about him. The bad attitude at the end of his last season and leaving Wrigley during the last game of the season were not a good way to end. This gives me an opportunity to post my favorite Sammy photo.

At this point, I won't be surprised if the day ends with the news that the Expos never actually relocated.

At this point the Astros are making the Patriots look like upstanding citizens. This is ghastly.

I am all for watching these proven cheating players that are walking away without penalty get dragged by fans. What's going to suck is that any great player that has a down 2020 season regardless of who they play for will inevitably be accused by fans of having cheated in the past.

The same "niece" or whoever that tweeted about Beltran and these wires also implicated Gleyber Torres and the Yankees. Dunno if that will go anywhere but holy fuck this is wild bad
