i know you white sox fans probably aren't a fan of his, but robin ventura is joining the oklahoma state coaching staff as an assistant. matt holliday is also an assistant on the team his brother, josh, coaches.
i was at osu the same time as ventura was, and lived a block away from the baseball stadium and loved watching his teams play. he was a great college baseball player.

He was a great White Sox too. I hold no ill will towards him. Bad hire from the overly loyal Reinsdorf.

Robin was my favorite player growing up. Hopefully he does well with OSU.

What about Craig Grebeck? Little Hurt! Only thing I remember about him is that nickname.

ventura was a pretty good player, just not so much a manager? i didn't follow the sox that well, but did he just not have much to work with? or were his managing skills not as good as his playing skills?
also, what's pretty cool about him coming back to osu is he's also going to work on finishing his degree since he left school after his junior year. so technically he's a student assistant ;–)

His tenure featured the Chris Sale jersey shredding and DRAKE M'FN LAROCHE taking over the clubhouse.

The good old days - when we were more concerned with hanger-on kids in clubhouses instead of high tech sign stealing equipment.

Donaldson to Twins is kinda wild Ken with the money. They will probably regret this deal.

Cool that the Twins are spending money, although Buxton is still probably not a very happy person on that team.
AL Central is going to be fun next season.

First White Sox tickets of the season have been purchased. I'll be sitting 100-level third base side for a lovely April night game in Colorado that will in no way be snowed out (fingers crossed).

MLB asked me to, so I made a ballot.
Abreu Bonds Clemens Jeter Jones Ramierz Rolen Sosa Wagner Walker

Sammy Sosa wasn't a HoF caliber player until he juiced, so unlike Clemens, Bonds, & Ramirez, I don't think he deserves inclusion (hell I'd give Sheffield the nod before him). Abreu is the Hall of Good IMO. If we're playing this game here's my ballot: Bonds Clemens Jeter Walker Wagner Kent Ramirez Pettitte Helton Konerko

I'll freely admit Abreu is "you deserve more than 5% on your first" And every voter should get one vote

Even with the steroids, Sosa's peak is too brief to be Hall-worthy. I've read a couple of interviews that he's done to try to convince people he deserves to be inducted, and the justification is pretty much the 1998 season.
If we're talking players with a too brief peak period who should have been inducted - Johan Santana.

The Cubs pretending that he doesn't exist is silly.

He left on pretty awful terms and refuses to apologize. Haven't they said that's what they're waiting for to welcome him back? The apology?
