We could see it pretty decently where I was in between the breaks in the clouds. That was cool. Just have to wait 7 more years for the next one.

it was cloudy here but luckily caught it between the clouds a few times, some of my coworkers had the glasses. it was about 65% coverage here. It was really cool, glad I saw it. And I'm glad someone here had the glasses
the next one passes right through Texas. I'm excited about that

Reminded me of that Twilight Zone episode where the entire world was covered in darkness because of all the hate that existed.

My dog started pacing around the back patio when the eclipse was it's peak over here.
Overall it was much more interesting than expected (the eclipse, not the dog pacing). Glad I picked up some glasses.

Only 71% blockage here in New York, but at 2:45pm it was noticeably darker than it would have been otherwise on a day with few clouds. My cereal box pinhole viewer worked reasonably well. I would really like to see the total eclipse in 2024 - maybe a jaunt up to Plattsburgh.

I thought Josh Ritter and Jason Ritter were the same person until about a week ago and i realized I've likely confused people in every conversation I've had bout the show parenthood. Soooo when I read this post I thought I knew who Jason Ritter was and it turned out I was thinking of Jason Reitman.

Move to Japan I would love to if it were that easy... currently looking at ways to get out there in some significant capacity in the next few years tho. Cool - I hope you'll indeed make it happen

That was actually much cooler than I expected, everyone at work watched. They had a little party with moon pies and sun chips

Did they offer juice, coffee, or donuts while you were there?

They did not!
They did try to sell me a basic maintenance package that according to the sales rep would save us $700 but somehow added an extra $2k to the cost.

Successfully transferred all playlists, songs, and followers from my Facebook-linked Spotify account to a new, non-Facebook-linked Spotify account.

I found out this weekend that two of my great grandparents were born in Romania, so that's news. Also a ton of family members beyond that that we do not know anything beyond their name.

Related to this, I decided to do a two week trial of Ancestry.com. It's kind of nuts how much information you can learn - I found my grandpa's WW1 registration card from 1918 and a census from 1910. Also found obituaries for some relatives on my mom's side that suggests I should never step foot near a farm. One died falling down a silo and another died in a tractor accident.

I was able to trace when my ancestors made it over here. I can't find it now but I went down the rabbit hole for like 3 hours one day at work and one of my ancestors was named Fredrich Willhelm Klippert III or something extremely German like that.

I've been able to go about 6 generations back on my mom's side. The spelling of my last name has changed 4 times in the last 100 or so years, too.

Yeah we went from klippard to klippert to clippert because of you racist Americans hating on my German Nazi ancestors.

I've gotten a handful of tickets because of that. At least it's not the most expensive ticket.
