After Claypool posted an Instagram picture of him hanging out with Billy Strings for like the fourth week in a row I finally realized they’re cutting an album together. Am I gonna have to get in to Billy Strings?

I like bluegrass and I haven’t seen Biwwy live but I watched a full set from one of the festivals he did last year and found it to be v boring. Maybe it’s amazing if you’re in the pit with Bathrobe Smiley.

To provide more context (I love it), my college buddy was my roommate back then and I’ve listened to so much jammy bluegrass stuff with him. I will also have American beauty in my top 20 for the 70s list despite having minimal interest in seeing any current iteration of the dead But also, I ran into a close friend from high school at the show and he and his girlfriend and a bunch of their friends, who live nearby and have none of that history (and bought $5 lawn tickets), and they all thought it was a great show |

I saw billy strings full set last year at lollapalooza, and I didn't like it. my only prior knowledge of him came from a video of a duet he did with molly tuttle in michigan that I have watched over and over.
but maybe the reason I was disappointed with billy is due to my familiarity with old school bluegrass on record and live, where the tunes are fast and short and the antithesis of jammy.
