White Sox hire Royals coach Pedro Grifol. Don't know much about him. He's a good guy. Doesn't have a lot of flair, but he seems capable. I think the Royals players really liked him. |

New GM and president making their first decisions regarding the staff after canning almost everyone from the previous regime, so I think it'd be weird if they had hired him and not reached outside of the organization. I honestly don't know much about Grifol, but it sounds like he has a good reputation and his resume certainly looks like he deserves this shot.

man, the phillies really beat the absolute shit about the cheatstros last night, huh?
that lance mccullers guy must have been tipping pitches... it's weird tho, i was told that knowing what pitch was coming didn't really have an impact?

I know everyone is gonna stay mad forever i guess and let that ruin baseball for them, despite that it was going on across multiple teams in the league, including even teams that people on here root for, and mind you I recognize it was shitty and the whole front office from that incident has been ushered out at this point and the Astros only have a select few players even remaining from that team. But a no hitter in the world series is pretty damn cool! That was really awesome last night. I hope you don't let an incident from 5 years ago invalidate that, even if it helps cope with the loss! going to game 6 on Saturday, glad it got confirmed to be happening, my first world series game to attend, cant wait. will the Astros win? I hope so, I'm rooting for them, I like this team a lot even though Dusty makes some decisions that baffle me and we can be streaky at times, but the talent on this team is immense and they've been a blast to watch all season. But the Phillies are really good! Their bats are going off way more than any team we played against and they clearly have the numbers of JV and LMJ who we both might be tapping into again (although I hope Lance doesnt pitch game 7). It's an undeniably hot team with a lot of power in the lineup, which makes for a really exciting series. I'm here for it either way. Lets go |

Me not liking the Astros (mostly because of the fanbase at this point) is not ruining baseball for me, but thanks for your concern. It was a cool no-hitter and Dusty should have left Javier in for longer than he did.

They had a 100 pitch cap on him and he was at like 97 also never said you have to like the Astros, I have lots of teams I really don't like, but the level of vitriol that some have (not you that ive seen) is kind of sad at this point lol |

Sox officially announced Grifol as their manager today. No hidden arrests have come to light, so it's already going better than the last one.
I'm liking what I've read about the guy - Sox players seem pretty happy with the decision so far. Now it's on Hahn to make some moves to improve the roster, which I'm not super confident about.

I'm rooting for the Phillies because I'll always harbor some level of resentment for the leaders of that 2017 team. That said, it would really suck to find out the feel-good group of homegrown dudes that brought you the team's first title ever(?) did what they did to get there. I'd feel extremely crushed as a fan, and idk how I would react to people invalidating the team's success in years since.
Honestly, if they just did something more mundane (like the alleged buzzers) I think people would've largely moved on by now. But the trash can thing was just so brazen and funny that they'll never fully live it down.
All in all, if they win the title this year I'll be happy for the fans to at least get to celebrate their team again and wash away some of that residual bad taste from 2017.

That slot, where we've had Aledmys Diaz and Trey Mancini so far, is an absolute black hole. I think both combined have 1 hit for the whole playoffs. Auto out in that spot basically |
