There’s a 0% chance that Lolla would make it 18+. The damage that policy would do to the basketball jersey industry might be enough to take down the entire US economy

I don’t think any festival besides EDC has done an age limit and I can’t imagine Lolla doing it. Didn't North Coast attempt to go 18+ a few years ago but then immediately change their mind?

Post Animal probably would be on the list, but I only had time to catch less than 15 minutes of their set

The 18+ questions is strange given they have an entire section of the park dedicated to Kidzapalooza. I don't think the 10 and under crowd is the issue but it would seems a serious deviation from their current position.

Best Merch Purchase: tye dye "I went to astroworld and all i got was this fucking shirt" travis scott shirt or the lolla poster Best Non-musical Activity: the toyota tent by the fountain that let you make a keychain, bracelet or necklace with a metal key that they printed coordinates for your favorite place on (I picked the area of Union Park where we usually set up camp) Man, those shirts really made me wish I gave a shit about Travis Scott. So good. Also wishing I had stopped by that Toyota tent now. I only heard about the usual totes, and decided to pass. That sounds pretty fucking cool.

Lolla did so many things right this year, so why does the shell/Tito's stage continue to get worse and worse?
They still haven't brought back the video boards and the sound was really atrocious this year (something I didn't encounter at any other stage). The vocals were consistently muddy and under emphasized, and the sound didn't carry out much beyond the mixing tent. How can they screw up the only permanent stage in Grant Park this badly?

I don't think the 10 and under crowd is the issue but it would seems a serious deviation from their current position. Lolla would have to redo their marketing photos on social media They have had it since Lolla's Chicago inception and having it is a big selling point for this particular fest to a number of parents. So yes they could eliminate it and just change their marketing material but they would be losing a large demo of people who actually spend money on premium tickets, and food, and beer, and merch, etc. I've spent significant time there the last three years and can also tell you it seems to be really popular amongst the people who work the fest, work for C3, etc. But I'm sure your smartass answer was well thought out.

They could do no unaccompanied minors under 18, which would allow for families to attend and lead to some really interesting Task Rabbit hires.

Even besides Kidzapalooza I can't support banning kids under 18. Lolla is a young man's game - it always has been and always should be. A young Facts attended the touring version of Lolla in HS as one of my first concerts ever - and it was a really formative experience.
Lolla is for the kids - it's not for the olds. Perry has taken a lot of goofy missteps but that always was one of his guiding compasses. If I have to deal with 15 year old molly'd up kids then that's a price I'm willing to pay for the greater good.

Back in action today after a day of jacuzzi and steam room yesterday.
My review: four days is too much. There was stuff I wanted to see all the time but I'm too old to go all day and I only saw three or four sets the last two days when it was hot.
St. Vincent and Arctic Monkeys were the best. Bruno was also very good. The only bad things I saw were Lany and Lil' Pump.

Also, for the water pouring thing, for those interested: If anyone was interested in possibly doing that/other volunteer spots in the future, I would recommend it. It's a pretty chill gig, you really just stand there and pour the water for 4 hours-ish. The lines got awful pretty much all weekend due to the weather, but that'll happen. It's much more tiring on your hands, arms and back than you would think though. But you really do just work your shift, then go and do whatever you want, they don't ask you to stay longer or anything. The other volunteer spots through the group I did it through were for the greeters near the entrance, the people at Kidzapalooza, and the recycling people. So you have options. Once the registration goes up for next year, I'll post the info in the 2019 thread.

Best Set: Lykke Li
Best Location: The free Titos bar I sweet-talked my way into
Best promotional item I don't remember taking 5 of: titos branded chapstick
Best free Drink to get me fully lit before VW: Double pour of titos and canned double espresso
Littest Set altho probably not technically good: Playboy Carti

The 10 minutes I saw were whatever: Manchester ORchestra
Worst Set: Odesza, Lil Uzi Vert, the dj between those two, Sabrino Claudistino, The shitty rock band that was playing when I tried to see gucci mane who ended literally 30 minutes early, not being able to find the Ninja livestream stage to call him a racist with my middle fingers up shmall style, the aces doing the worst kind of disney pop.

Once the registration goes up for next year, I'll post the info in the 2019 thread. I will second Mookie's endorsement, and add just a few other notes.
1) Once you've done a volunteer job, and have been rated acceptable or better, you're in for life. You get the invitation before everyone else, and pretty much have the pick of shifts in future years. This happens because: a) They experience up to a 50% no show rate for some jobs and some shifts...so they want good people they know will come back, b) They still experience some people that show up, check in, and then never come back for their shifts. This only happens once (and they're permanently blacklisted, but it does happen), and c) They have some people who will volunteer and then go outside and sell their wristband. When it flags red at the gate for the buyer, they know who sold it, and that person is also blacklisted for life. 2) If anyone chooses the greeter job, let's just say that I have some ability to make sure that you're placed in a shady spot during your time, AND I have the ability to ensure that you are completely done with your job by 8PM even if you have to take the "late" shift (most other jobs the late shift goes until or after the fest ends).
3) You also have access to the volunteer entrance, all day, which is literally zero line with zero bag check. Not that I'd ever advocate it (or personally know anyone that has done so ), but you could walk a chair and a bike through there if you wanted. And the ice cold water and chill volunteer compound is available to you if you get overwhelmed by the weather.

Best cover I saw is a tie between Dirty Diana and Dr Feelgood performed by the School of Rock All-Stars to the Kidzapalooza crowd. Not quite a Patti Smith moment but still questionable.

I never really noticed, but I'm guessing that's because the right side bridge is slightly a longer walk to get to than the left side bridge...

I copied this from lollamanand made my changes:
Best Early Act - Slaves (UK) One of the best sets of the fest Best Mid Tier Act - St. Vincent Best Headliner - Jack White Best Change To The Fest - I never had a longer than 5 minute wait in the security lineTotally agree, no waiting, very little hassle. Worst Change To The Fest - Empty water bottles. Best Food/Drink Purchase - Harold's chicken tenders Best Merch Purchase - Lolla cassette shirt Worst Food/Drink Purchase - nothing Best Stage - Grant Park Worst Stage - If the wind picked up at Lakeshore, the sound got muddy agreed. Best Aftershow - didn't go to any, but did go to the Royals/White Sox game on Wednesday Act Most Likely To Disappear - lovelytheband Act Most Likely To Blow Up - Daniel Caesar or Pale Waves Most Disappointing Act - Gucci Mane (sorry, I thought they sounded awful) Best Party of the Weekend - Durand Jones and the Indications (Toyota stage) Best Time to give into your heatstroke - Lizzo Best Surprise Find - Yungblud Best Crowd - Jack White at the fest agreed Worst Crowd - Same old NAV/Lil Uzi Vert bullshit bottleneck. Best Comeback - Stars agreed Best Cover - even though I missed the song live, it has to be Ballroom Blitz by The Regrettes. Best Looking/Best Dressed - St. Vincent Underrated Act - Stars Overrated Act - Greta Van Fleet Best Crowd Banter - Carly Rae Jepson Act Most Likely To Play Lolla 2019 - Brockhampton Best Non-musical Activity - short lines at the water stations
Most likely to forget his own name: Supa Bwe ("WHAT'S MY NAME?" about 200 times during his set) Best guilty pleasure act: Yungblud Most likely to be hated forever by cosmo if they cancelled and thank goodness they didn't because they were pretty good: Greta Van Fleet
Best 'going in blind" band: LL Cool J The band I regret seeing: The Weeknd (I eventually made it to Vampire Weekend but missed the 3 x "A-punk") The band I don't regret missing: Walk the Moon
The band I wish I could have seen more of, but stupid schedule conflicts: Anderson East
BTW awards: 1. While the heat was bad, I was happy to notice that people were still mostly being polite and helping. 2. The roving "safety" people really were doing a great job noticing when some people were having "problems." 3. Security passing out bottles of water at the Bud Light stage.
