Picture if the Padres tried to trade Hoffman straight up for Mussina at any point during their careers. They'd get laughed at and hung up on. Moose is getting in, possibly next year. IRT Scoots: Wagner deserves better than what he's getting, that's for sure. Mo & Doc should both be 1st ballot locks next year. I imagine Pettite and Helton will get strong consideration as well. |

I think Pettite will be out for a while, just because he owned up to some of the stuff. I think all of the old time baseball writers can just turn a blind eye to the Pudge Rodriguezes and Piazzas because there was no proof.

True, but to his credit I think Pettite owned his HGH use better than anyone else from that era, and I think that goes a long way with the writers. Bonds, Clemens, Sosa, Manny etc were all huge assholes about it, and there's a group of writers that will hold that against them forever.

It's not a terrible deal. You could argue that they're buying low on Brinson and potentially selling high on Yelich.
Or Brinson just might not be any good.
But it's not worse than the Ozuna deal.
