Baseball America's mid-season top 100 prospects list. No bonus points for guessing number 1.

Well that's one way to end the half.

Kopech struck out Moncada with a 101 mph fastball at the Futures Game yesterday.

Spencer Adams took a no-hitter into the sixth inning: 7.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 12 K, 62 of 99 pitches for strikes. Pitching prospects in the Sox system have me all excited.

Two top prospects in the Cubs system. Not sure the Sox were going to get a better offer than that.

I feel like this is a good deal for the Cubs, but this confirms that Theo and Jed are moving to the next franchise in about 2 years.

I'd imagine Robertson will be gone soon.
The rest of this season is going to be a shit show.
In other news Nate Jones just underwent surgery today.

Curious who gets called up first to replace Quintana.

On first glance I like the deal for the Sox.
But yeah, the rest of this year will be a mess.

I don't recall the White Sox ever having a farm system this good.
Lineup in maybe 3 years?
1B Burger 2B Moncada SS Anderson 3B Michalczewski OF Robert OF Jimenez OF Basabe C Collins
SP Kopech SP Giolito SP Rodon SP Dunning SP Adams/Hansen RP Lopez RP Burdi
God knows if these guys pan out, but they hit on two or three of these guys and that's something to build on with free agency.

I like this trade, and hope the Sox continue to move whatever assets they can (Robertson, Avi Garcia) for prospects. I have no problem with the rest of this season being a shit show, since this was always going to be a wasted season anyway. Besides, it will only improve our draft position for next year.
Tank baby! Tank!

Stronger return than I was expecting. Gotta wonder if the Brewers being involved convinced the Cubs to up their offer.
Let's get that top 3 pick.

Absolutely love the Quintana trade. He's a hell of a pitcher, but I never thought the Sox could get an elite prospect like Jimenez for him. This farm system is stacked now.

Although it would be nice to still have Fernando Tatis Jr. Keith Law just ranked him as the 15th-best prospect in baseball in his midseason rankings.
Always fun to remember that he was traded for James Shields when the Sox were .500 last year.

I think they've more than made up for it with the last three trades.

It was also kind of nice to read that Shields was mentoring pitchers during his rehab stint and had a hand in Giolito's recent turnaround.

Cubs apparently might be pursuing Sonny Gray. Not sure what the asking price would be. Would have to imagine at least Almora would be included?

Yeah I would imagine it would have to be someone on the major league roster at this point. I don't think they have enough left in the minors to get it done.
