Food and drinks were really good. It was a larger group for our friend's birthday so it was a perfect spot, but I don't think I would go there for a date or a nice night out with just two people basically for the reason you mentioned

This weekend I made the mistake of thawing steak on the kitchen counter but forgetting to put it in the fridge before bed. (It was just 2 smaller round steaks, nothing fancy like tenderloin).
I made spaghetti with Rao's marinara. I bought a 2-pack at Sam's b/c I had heard it was the best of the jarred pasta sauces (and for use in situations like the above). It was pretty good. Also made some ground pork+porcini mushroom meatballs to go with it (from a Food+Wine recipe).

Akahoshi special rn is I think my favorite that they've done this year if anyone is gearing up for soup season:
October Monthly Special: Blackened Garlic Tonkotsu Mayu, or blackened garlic oil, is a common topping for ramen in Kumamoto, but its popularity stateside overshadows Japan. We push our version into the American territory, with an extremely creamy Tonkotsu soup, and a pitch black, intense version of mayu. Topped with pork chashu, green onion, menma, woodear mushroom

I'm not sure if it's Good (or even what the actual store looks like) but I've been ordering from Picnic lately and it's been v tasty and nourishing. Also the choc chip cookies are good, I haven't tried the lemon tart but it was cute and my dude said it was really good.

Going to thattu for our anniversary. I like how the three reviews in this thread range from "very good" to "kinda sucked"

Thattu is great altho I could see the service model leaving people cold. Keeps the meal affordable tho.
For entrees stick with pork chop and than either the white fish or the shrimp, the chicken dishes are the only things I find underwhelming on the menu but they are certainly not bad.

Arancini, burrata e ham, can’t really go wrong with any of pastas either! The celebration cake they give you is great, but the tiramisu is on another level!

I feel like you have to order their cacio e pepe if you've never had it. It's life changing. I often try different pastas there and usually regret it.

I had the Cacio Whey Pepe with gluten free pasta the one time I went there and it was probably the best pasta dish I've ever had. I can only imagine it's better with real pasta.

the big ragu is so good and so big.
everyone raves about the burrata e ham and whatever bread it comes with it was meh and overpowered the amazingness of the other items.

Any supper club recommendations in or south of the dells? Have always had Buckhorn on my bucket list but I guess the chef died a couple years ago and the recent reviews of the food have been kinda brutal.

Ishnala is supposed to be the big deal up there but it's closed for the season. I have a friend who swears by Del Bar. The Wisconsin Supper Club Enthusiasts Facebook page has good things to say about Cimaroli's.

The Wisconsin Supper Club Enthusiasts Facebook page has good things to say about Cimaroli's. Had circled Del Bar but it is just steakhouse priced which feels like it kinda defeats the purpose. Will look into Cimaroli’s
