Detroit style is weird to me since it was always just "square" pizza growing up which i thought was a thing everywhere until i got older. it's good but not as good as chicago style imo. yeah, it's weird. there was usually square pizza at places in the chicago area i went to growing up and i'd never heard of it being called "detroit style" until the past year like scoots said.

i think sauce dolloped on top is a technical distinction that makes it detroit vs squared but it's a small difference in my book. detroit for me is the crust and shape. which i'm sure is blasphemy for everyone else i know.

I think my pizza rankings are:
1.) Chicago thin crust 2.) Cartoonishly large New York slice 3.) Detroit style 4.) Deep dish
St. Louis style is dead last

Does Detroit style necessarily have the crunchy cheese crust? Or is it just the squareness?
It's too doughy generally but it was tasty. The owner is pretty foxy but he made some idiotic statements on his other restaurant website so I have a sort of moral conflict about eating there on top of the gut-bombiness of the whole thing.
1. Neapolitan 2. Cracker crust 3. One slice of spinach Chicago style followed by a 40 minute nap 4. Detroit 5. Frozen (any)

The way I've seen it in Denver it's a square pizza with the cheese baked all the way to the edge. So yeah, I guess your description fits.
Denver can't do deep dish right for some reason. It's always super dry. There's a bunch of really great NY slice places, though. Although I think that's hard to screw-up.

Girlfriend and I went to this fairly new place called Flyover. One of these places where you order a few things to share with the table. We got Mac and cheese, meatballs, and sausage pizza. I rank them 1)meatballs, 2)mac and cheese, 3)sausage pizza (it had this sweet chili sauce drizzled on top which I didn't really care for).

did family style at Maggiano's with a group of 12 last night after our escape room. fried calamari, stuffed mushrooms, chicken parm, pesto, pasta and clams, tuscan veal, plus way too many desserts. still pretty affordable and v good.
also went to Jak's Tap in west loop for their last night before closing and everything was basically free so that was neat.

Just found out that a surprising amount of people eat bagels like monsters (i.e. like a donut, not split into two halves). Gross.

Not my fave, but I end up doing Maggiano's once in a while with either my family or the in-laws. Pro tip: always make sure there's Rigatoni D on the table.

Stopped at Mile End Deli for a Montreal-style everything bagel with cream cheese, red onion, capers and tomatoes in lieu of lox with my Texan guests before taking an early morning jaunt to Central Park yesterday. Best bagel I've had in 15 years.

It's national fried chicken day so I'm going to use that as an excuse to finally try Ms T's Southern Fried Chicken tonight.

I like Imo's, but I can definitely see why some don't. It's almost like eating a bunch of crackers, I can finish a large in one sitting. There's an Imo's here in town that has a lunch buffet, I prefer that because I can get a salad with it and it's cheaper.
