Did they announce a target date? My kid would probably lose his mind over a HTTYD land, but maybe not so much in 5-6 years. They did not but knowing the competition between UORL and Disney, expect a 2021 opening.

As someone who LOVES How To Train Your Dragon...I can imagine that land would be super fun and there is a lot to work with from the movies and to inject into an immersive theme park...but do those movies have the staying power to have a whole world made out of them? Will anyone care about them in a few years?

Will anyone care about them in a few years? I haven't seen any of the dragon or minion movies, but it looks to me like Universal's most durable animated IP is Despicable Me. Hard to imagine they couldn't have made a minion world more "exciting" than the dragon one

Hard to imagine they couldn't have made a minion world more "exciting" than the dragon one I agree, minions seem way more identifiable, popular and long-lasting than HTTYD (and that is coming from someone who HATES everything minion based). Probably the one big difference is that Despicable Me & associated movies are kinda set in the real world which is boring. HTTYD is in a pretty spectacular and colorful fantasy/medieval/Nordic/magical land with some amazing landscapes that are varied, interesting, and would make for a fantastic immersive environment. So I guess they've just called it HTTYD land, but they're probably just using those movies as a drawcard to what would otherwise be just a Fantasy/medieval/Nordic world, and I guess if they find that HTTYD isn't a big drawcard in the future it wouldn't be a huge effort to just rebrand as 'Fantasy World' or something.

Heading to WDW this weekend to preview Galaxy's Edge with a 5-9pm timeslot. Can't wait to spend my Riot Fest budget on a lightsaber and droid. I don't know what to name the droid -- also torn if I should get a BB unit, a R unit, or an Astromech unit.

If you were blindfolded, dumped into Galaxy's Edge, and then had your blindfold taken off...you would not know you were in a Disney park at all. It is that immersive. Every sight-line is well detailed and this area does not do "hidden Mickeys" but "hidden Millennium Falcons". If you use the Datapad app, you can go on some LARPing fetch quests to uncover more of the backstory.

My hot take is that Epcot is the best park. Interested to see what the new additions are. Magic Kingdom has always been my favorite but my favorite thing I did on my last trip was going around the world thing with my friend and trying one drink and one food item from each place and ranking each of them (we we're splitting each thing so we didn't die of being overstuffed) so idk maybe Epcot is my favorite now

It’s all the amazing food/drinks but small portions so you can try it all. Big fan.
