Not necessarily surprised by this move though if you’re not familiar with Song of the South I don’t think you’d ever think twice about anything on the ride itself. Even with that in mind I can’t remember anything particularly problematic in the presentation but I could be wrong

The ride itself isonly focused on the animated characters/storylines from the film, which really were fairly standard Disney fare, so I guess you could almost argue the ride itself wasn't directly problematic in its particular storyline. Or exactly as you put it, if a rider wasn't familiar with Song of the South and the overall story / reality of that film, the ride mostly wouldn't be offensive or bad.
That said, the film is so wildly offensive in it's overall concept, history and portrayal of Uncle Remus that the fact that anything is based of that in 2020 is a really terrible thing. Very glad to hear this is happening.
Hope they do re-theme justice!

New Splash Mountain will have the boats go through the full Captain America: Civil War airport battle.

i take it this is happening at Barclays Center with Youth Lagoon opening? I didn't read the second tweet reply to Bosmas post, and I didn't see where anyone mentioned it here. The board dot failed me as a Disney theme parks news source smh

Ok I just saw UAs tweet he posted in the unrelated series thread mentioned it but he didn't even post it in his own thread so I feel justified

thisismyname how you doing friend? I forgot you're the only rival to Kamera in theme park knowledge but also I haven't seen you since Brooklyn! Oh, hello! I am good! In a pretty intensive full time grad school progam and working a bunch outside of that so slightly on the verge of a mental breakdown most days, BUT, it's all very good and exciting things so Including doing some #CreateAFest vibes but IRL, so hell yeah. Hope you all are swell as well. Also as to the topic of this thread, I got to go to Universal Studios in January and rode the new Jurassic and Hagrid coasters and was very very happy about it.

I am going to Disney World for the first time in like 15 years. I will be there for four full days but will also have a 2 yo in tow. A friend of mine will likely be there at the same time so I may transition from uncle duties to dudes rock duties once it hits night time. What's the ideal itinerary? Just one park a day?

When you going? Weather and crowds will play into the game plan here.

One park a day is pretty common now that Disney switched from Park Hopping to their Park Reservation system. You can technically reserve a second park after 2pm but it’s a hassle. Given the fact you will have a 2 y.o. in your party, doing MK for multiple days might be an option. When you’re not doing uncle duties, HS is a must. I would avoid AK simply because it’s not worth it under the current reservation system and Everest is currently under a lengthy refurbishment. Epcot is a really cool bar with an expensive cover charge.
Things to note: -MK is the most crowded Mondays on average -Disney purposely inflates wait times to drive crowds to different areas and to sell more Genie+ -Rise of the Resistance is worth the wait in standby -Go to Trader Sam’s (located at the Polynesian resort). Best bar on property.

2 yo gonna need lots of naps and breaks. Are you staying on property? Find some nice pools to hang out at. Or plan on non uncle time when the kid will be knocked out in the early afternoons.
Epcot is indeed fun to get very drunk at.
Keep an ear out, there's a tiny chance that the new Guardians of the Galaxy ride at Epcot could soft open when you're there.
Haven't done Avatar at AK so can't speak to whether that's worth it or not, guess it depends on how much you enjoy blue things.
I know nothing about Genie+ really so godspeed on whatever new hell that is. Taking this opportunity to drop this gem in the thread though:

Thank you both. You are much better resources than supposed "Disney adult" thebosma. Sucks about AK I guess. Even to do the avatar shit and take the little guy on a safari you don't think it's worth it?

If you want to go, I’d try to fit it in as a later in the day 2nd park reservation or do it first thing in the morning before 11am. AK gets very hot and humid because of the heat that gets trapped from the foliage. Heat and infants is a bad combo.

Even to do the avatar shit and take the little guy on a safari you don't think it's worth it? counterpoint to kamera's points about AK, i personally think it has the best food/drink options (yes better than HS which is...crafty? but the actual food at AK is better), its the most aesthetically appealing park, and its easy to have a nice day because you aren't pressured to make it to multiple must-see attractions. sucks that everest is down (best ride at disney?) but i still its worth going to.

I will say that the Nomad Lounge located just outside Pandora in AK is the best cocktail lounge at any of the 4 WDW parks. Seriously. I think Driftwood would spend a day there.

HS has the worst food options and worst value so I won’t argue there. The Baseline Taphouse has had the same draft options since 2017.
