to an extent I think it could be said about Daniel / Eli as well. We've gotten some good movies out of it but hopefully PTA goes a different direction next.
To me, absolutely everything in Phantom Thread is firing on all cylinders creatively. The first time I saw it, I admired it a bunch but still had some more thoughts to process. The second time, after it had already kind of revealed itself to me, I was blown away.

I love the Master but I'm not a Phantom Thread fan.
Maybe I could watch it again, but every other PTA movie I've instantly loved.

As someone who watched Phantom Thread yesterday I just did not find the conflict overly interesting or tense in the same way I did between Daniel and Eli.

Let's put it on the record here that I would feel really down if thebosma, andrewvb or wretched were ever to say that my list is shitty

Also to put on record: if a fabulous movie is not on my list, don't assume it is because I didn't like - it is most likely because I have simply not had the chance yet to watch it (Only one -and I know also challengable- exception to this rule is A Separation, which I didn't like enough to put it in my top 50. I do have on it however 4 or 5 other movies from the Middle East )

Incredibly, zero (0) votes for The Artist I tried to watch this at least three times and could never get through it. It's got to be one of the worst best picture winners of all time, if not the worst.

We just watched The Favourite, which I assume was bosma's primary intention when starting this whole thing. Great movie, extremely dark in all the right ways.

It’s better than crash and green book I haven't watched Crash in over a decade but I just assume it's aged terribly. I never even bothered with Green Book.

idk if its better than green book The number of middle aged white people who have taken it as “wow isn’t it great we solved racism back then!” Is a significantly worse effect than watching that cute dog for two hours

Look all I’m saying is they’re not really releasing movies for a while, you should take this time to watch literally all of the good ones that have ever been made so you’ve got a shot at keeping up later
